On the 6th & 7th of May 2014, CES Quarry Products were audited against the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001. The company had already been certified against the requirements of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, but wished to gain certification to the Health & Safety standard OHSAS 18001. New Paradigm Consulting were contracted to develop 1 integrated management system that would meet the requirements of all 3 standards. Following this audit, CES were successfully certified and the company management system co-ordinator had this to say;

CES Quarry Products Ltd is based in County Down, operating from sites in Saintfield and Moneyreagh. The company extracts quarry stone from its Quarry in Saintfield for use in construction applications and the manufacture of masonry units and ready mix concrete at both sites.
The company had already in place both ISO 9001 : 2008 Quality Management System and ISO 14001 : 2004 Environmental Management Systems. The company is committed to continual improvement in all areas that it operates and as such decided to obtain certification to BS OHSAS 18001 : 2007 Health and Safety Management System to create an Integrated Management System.
To assist in the development and consolidation of existing manuals and procedures into an Integrated Management System, we engaged the services of New Paradigm Consulting. Principal Consultant Ryan Collins carried out a site visit to analyse the company’s needs and requirements with the intention of creating a bespoke integrated management system that was both streamlined and efficient.
The completed Integrated Management Manual replaced and merged three stand alone manuals, the Quality Manual, the Environmental Management Manual and the Company Health & Safety Policy, Organisation and Arrangements into 1 integrated system specific to CES individual site requirements. The integration of all three manuals vastly reduced the amount of documentation and duplication of maintaining multiple separate policies and procedures.
Throughout the integration process New Paradigm Consulting provided excellent communication and continuous updates of progress towards the completion of the final Integrated Management System. Upon completion of the Integrated Management System, New Paradigm Consulting provided training on the operation and maintenance of the system.
The final Integrated Management System was introduced internally by the company on the 1st January 2014 and was successfully certified by third party auditors on the 6th and 7th May 2014 that met the requirements of all three standards.
The process of introducing management systems can seem a daunting and complicated process to any company but with the correct professional assistance and guidance the process can be simplified.
